I’ve just sent this out to recruitment agents. If this is you (or someone your know who’s looking) drop me an email.
Job title: Energy consultant / project engineer
Timescale: Immediate start
Job specification
- Work alongside our director in the London office to drive forward our ESCO, consultancy, and containerised plant room businesses
- Carry out options appraisals; provide strategic energy advice to clients
- Carry out technical modelling of distributed energy systems; refining and owning the spreadsheet tools required
- Provide input into financial modelling, quickly learning business aspects of energy systems
- Carry out or oversee mechanical design of energy centres, district heating, and other elements, working alongside our UK team as well as our Danish partners and adopting best practice
- Help manage the procurement and installation of low carbon plant and infrastructure
Fontenergy is a work environment where everyone does everything. That’s great because you get exposure to all the ingredients required to make distributed energy work – engineers have to understand basic finance, finance people have to get energy markets, energy traders have to understand the Code for Sustainable Homes, etc. Admittedly this can be a little daunting at first, but everybody’s pretty nice and happy to help each other out.
In addition to getting exposure to new areas, you also get as much responsibility as you’re willing to accept. This means you have the chance to go much farther much faster than you might in other companies. As we’ve recently entered a period of significant growth, this is a perfect time to start.

About Fontenergy
Fontenergy is rapidly growing, agile, and extremely capable low carbon consultancy and ESCO. We focus on all aspects of low carbon energy for the built environment, helping private companies and community organisations deliver distributed energy systems that meet financial and sustainability goals.
Fontenergy was founded in 2006 by bringing together key people from three core disciplines: commercial strategy, energy markets management, and engineering. Our people have spent their careers designing and building low carbon energy systems, dealing with energy markets, and helping to build profitable businesses.
We have provided consulting services on some of the largest ESCO projects in the UK including the 5000 home scheme at Elephant and Castle and the 12,000 home redevelopment of Greenwich Peninsula. We also have first hand experience of ESCO planning, negotiation, and operation through our own projects. We are also very active in the photovoltaic sector, particularly in Italy where we finance, install, and operate industrial scale building mounted PV systems.
